Tasting Notes
The nose was a laurel wreath on which gentle peat smoke was intertwined with butterscotch and malt extract. On the palate, that sweet smoky combo appeared again – Moffat toffees rolled in ash, honey and humbugs were all softly pacified by a beekeeper’s puff of smoke; the finish included willow twig and pencil-end woodiness, and dark roasted coffee beans. The reduced nose offered toffee apples, brandy snaps and an autumnal garden bonfire. The palate was now house-tamed and lovable – chalky sweets, brown sugar, lemon peel and cherry cola, finishing with burnt twigs, pink peppercorns and a mustard glaze on roast pork.
