50th Anniversary Cask Club

BE PART OF THE JOURNEY TO OUR 50TH ANNIVERSARY NOW

As we start to wrap up our 40th anniversary celebrations, we are already excitedly planning the next decade which begins with the launch of the 50th Anniversary Cask Club.

As part of the 50th Anniversary Cask Club, you can own a piece of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society’s future as you experience first-hand a whisky’s 10-year journey from cask to bottle.

We have been hand-selecting batches of new-make spirit from two Scottish whisky distilleries and laying them down into casks.

WHY PURCHASE ONE OF THESE UNIQUE CASKS?

For the first time in our 40-year history, we will be selling the entire contents of a cask directly to our members. Once bottled, the whisky from these casks will form part of a unique 50th range in 2033, only available to those members who are part of this programme.

  • The casks have been handpicked from two celebrated distilleries, each renowned for its unwavering commitment to quality. If you join us for this journey, you are not just purchasing whisky inside the cask; you’re acquiring a work of art that will be aged to perfection.
  • You will have a front-row seat to see how the whisky inside your cask matures over time, with tasting samples drawn at key points throughout the decade for you to savour.
  • In 2033, the contents of the cask will be bottled and decorated with a unique 50th Anniversary Club celebratory label design, which will be personalised with your name, brief message and your signature.
What will you receive?
  • Exclusive ownership of the entire contents of a cask
  • A digital certificate of ownership upon purchase
  • A gift box delivered by Spring 2024 including your certificate in a frame made of cask staves and a pipette
  • Samples at key points throughout the 10 year period
  • Invitation (with a plus one) to the 50th Anniversary VIP party in Edinburgh
  • One Year's Membership to the Society that you can gift to someone of your choice
  • Bottling* of your whisky in December 2033, as it turns 10-years old
  • All bottles from your cask will have the member’s name, or similar title of your choice** on the label design.

* Bottling will be charged at the market rate in 2033 and will be placed into The Scotch Malt Whisky Society livery.

Distillery 42 (Peated)

An Island distillery that produces both heavily peated and unpeated single malt. Established in the late 18th century and has been mothballed a number of times throughout its history. We typically find notes of medicinal smoke and briny seaside character.

Distillery 8 (Unpeated)

A Speyside distillery established in the late 19th century which opened during the late Victorian whisky boom (just short of a century after Distillery 42). At this distillery, we savour their notes of dried fruits, honeycomb and apples.
