BOOK THE VENUEThe spiritual home of the Society, traditional and eclectic in its appearance with a magnificent selection of single cask whisky and spirits. The history of the building dates back as far as the 12th century with the current building completed in 1787. Originally a wine merchants bonded warehouse, we are continuing its affiliation to the wine and spirits industry having been our home since 1983. A trusted hostelry for our valued members and their guests, we pride ourselves on a warm welcome at our member’s room and whisky bar in the heart of Leith, with spectacular drams and flavour focused menu all combining to create the community that is SMWS.

Be it for a corporate or private function, for a whisky tasting, for private dining or a business meeting – or even a combination of all three, our fantastic venue at The Vaults provides ideal surroundings befitting fine and stylish events.
FIND OUT MOREThe Vaults is a members only venue. Each member can sign in up to three guests at the Members' Rooms. Booking is recommended to avoid disappointment. The venues are for individuals over 18 years of age unless booking a private function room.
Non-members
Non-members have the possibility to book a table at The Kaleidoscope Whisky Bar at the our Queen Street venue in central Edinburgh. This bar is open to all.
