Membership & A Bottle of Whisky - Option A
Mostly A: we think you’ll enjoy the vanilla, oak and mouth-watering fruit notes found in whiskies aged in ex-bourbon casks. This type of cask provides a mellow, sweet and rounded whisky which is as delicious as a dram as it is in a classic whisky cocktail. Ex-bourbon casks are ‘charred’ on the inside, leading to the beautiful golden colour of these whiskies plus some notes of toffee.
Membership & A Bottle of Whisky - Option B
Mostly B: why not try the rich, dried fruits and spiced notes which come from maturation in casks formerly containing sherry? Depending on our ever-changing bottlings, selecting this as your first bottle may give you a whisky that has spent its whole life in a sherry cask – or one that has first matured in ex-bourbon and then has been ‘extra matured’ in a sherry cask. At the Society, we love to experiment with sherry, so the cask may be Pedro Ximenez, oloroso or manzanilla, each with a unique impact on flavour.
Membership & A Bottle of Whisky - Option C
Mostly C: the gentle smokiness of peated whiskies might appeal to you.
These distinctive whiskies have all been created using peated malt, where the malted barley has been dried using peat, to add smoky, earthy and saline notes. Depending on our ever-changing bottling releases, the whisky you receive may have been matured in ex-bourbon casks or may have also spent some time in ex-sherry casks – adding sweetness, roundness and potentially some spiciness.
Membership & A Bottle of Whisky - Option D
Mostly D: for those who love to explore! This option is for a ‘wild card’, hand selected by our Dram-cierge team.
These bottlings will all be exceptional examples of their specific type…and may include some of our more experimental casks, small batch releases or unusual cask types.
1. After purchase you will receive an email confirmation where you will be able to log in to smws.com to access the members' area with access to events and bottlings.
2. Within 24 hours we will send you a welcome email to let you know your membership is being processed.
3. Membership processing takes around five working days, during which we will send you your membership pack along with any other purchase you have made.
4. Once you receive your membership pack and card, you will be able to access Members' Rooms and take part in tastings and events.
5. Each month you will receive regular updates by email about Outturn bottle releases, events, tastings and much, much more. You can also keep up to date with what's happening on social media too!
