We all enjoyed an old-fashioned cloudy lemonade on a warm summer’s day but with an increased pulse rate as we added Aperol, grapefruit juice and maple syrup as well as juniper berries, turmeric, fenugreek and pine sap. A wonderful creamy mouthfeel, smooth with a juniper, peppery tingle as the citrus vibes continued now with pink grapefruit and lime. After the addition of water, a potpourri of fresh, sweet enticing aromas of rose petals and perfumed juniper berries, while in the background the scent was that of pure liquid Castile soap. On the palate, a sweet refreshing herbal flavour appeared like a traditional aperitif from the Alpine region of Europe called génépi.
