A selection of Scotch whiskies have brought a haul of eight medals in this year’s International Wine and Spirits Competition.
The expert judges of the International Wine and Spirits Competition (IWSC) have awarded a haul of medals to The Scotch Malt Whisky Society in this year’s competition, with one ‘Gold Outstanding’ award, two Golds and five Silvers.
Cask No. 55.74: Crazy Flamenco Bravuratook the Gold Outstanding prize, while Cask No. 53.432: Take A Step Back In Time and Cask No. 35.331: Life-Changing Magnificence both won Golds.
Our single grain Cask No. G8.21: Cool, Calm And Collectible was one of the five silvers, along with Cask No 3.343: A Welcome Home Hug, Cask No 41.157: Pine Nut Croissants, Cask No 94.31: Ice Cream By Candlelight and Cask No 4.345: Beach Bonfire At Sundown.
The Society’s award-winning bottles were:

Cask No. 35.331: Life-Changing Magnificence– Gold, 95 points

Cask No 41.157: Pine Nut Croissants – Silver, 94 points
Cask No 94.31: Ice Cream By Candlelight – Silver, 94 points
Cask No 4.345: Beach Bonfire At Sundown – Silver, 93 points
Cask No. G8.21: Cool, Calm And Collectible– Silver, 92 points
JG Thomson, the small batch spirits specialist launched by The Scotch Malt Whisky Society’s parent company, Artisanal Spirits, also made an impressive mark in the IWSC awards.
JG Thomson scored three Silver awards for each of its Sweet, Rich and Smoky blended malts.
The category of Scotch whisky in this year’s IWSC Spirits Awards were overseen by master distiller Richard Paterson, with a panel made up of world-renowned experts from across the global spirits trade. Many judges are also distillers themselves, providing a unique opportunity for independent peer feedback.
