Tasting Notes
An insane intensity on the nose neat, muscovado sugar, nutmeg, sweet pipe tobacco, orange zest, coconut, banana and dates – yummy rummy in my tummy! Warm butterscotch, rich mocha and toffee followed by sweet juice plums. In the finish dark chocolate, marzipan and ginger followed by an oak spiciness which seemed to last forever. After the addition of water aromas of dark cherries, maple pecan popcorn, poached pears and cinnamon swirls made us think of very old Armagnac or indeed a rare vintage Añada Palo Cortado Sherry. A concentrated palate awaited us; creamy, juicy, oaky and sweet with salted caramel, hazelnuts, almonds and walnuts like the traditional French confectionary mendiant.
