As a member of the Society, you know that one of the keys to obtain an excellent whisky lies in the quality of the cask. Diversity is the spice of life, and in this respect, members love the variety of casks the Society bottlings from. For this event, we will focus on whiskies that have had extra maturation in Olorosso, Pedro Ximenez, port, red wine, and Sauternes. In a comparative tasting we will sample 5 SMWS whiskies and 5 small samples of the liquid that previously inhabited the casks and see if we can find some similarities.
