2022 SMALL BATCH RENEWAL BOTTLING
This small batch blended malt was created exclusively for those renewing their membership. It utilises a combination of first-fill bourbon barrels and specially selected 300 litre Cabernet Sauvignon casks from Australia. We were looking to create a big, jammy whisky, full of lovely fruit and oak notes. The whiskies selected were all from the Speyside region, and the wine casks were sourced from our friends at Nebb Whisky Barrels. This is a wonderful whisky to toast another year of Society membership.
TASTING NOTES
We found ourselves in an old-fashioned bakehouse enticed by a bouquet of aromas consisting of baking spices, manuka honey, cloves, golden syrup, and a warm cherry madeira cake straight out of the oven. First sip was a grape juice with flavours of ripe apples, caramelised lemon zest, elderflower and all that was followed by freshly baked gooseberry meringue combined with butter on hard-shell tacos topped with rosemary and orange zest. After reduction some opened a bottle of pink lemonade, others a hoppy amber ale and the scent of Mediterranean herbs filled the air. To taste sweet black tea and cherry Bakewell tarts with a hint of lingering Chinese five spice in the background.
