Tasting Notes
Oloroso sherry splashed on to natural stone tiles as we lay back, took a bite of soft orange sponge cake and lit another cigar. Through the open window a gentle breeze mixed aromas of smoked hay with the fragrant notes from the local bakery a delicious amalgamation of salted almonds, fresh bread and apricot jam pastries. Floral notes arrived with water as Turkish delights joined hawthorn blossom and orchards. The tobacco smoke danced over the bathtub of oloroso, made spicy with a handful of coriander seeds and tart orange skin. After spending 11 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead this was transferred to a re-charred oloroso barrique.
