Our noses encountered caramel, foamy shrimps and bananas, Crunchie bars and marmalade, combined with toasted coconut, cinnamon stick and carpentry workshops. On tasting it, we got salted caramel in dark chocolate, iced cinnamon buns and orange liqueurs; then warmer flavours of ginger snaps, pepper, leather, wood and wasabi. The reduced nose had banana loaf, Empire biscuits and stewed plums; also hints of body lotion and light smoke (leaf bonfires, barbeques). The reduced palate was considerably more approachable; sweet and juicy, with lemon curd and red fruits, eventually leading to a sweet, spicy finish of ginger, cinnamon and slightly medicinal Victory V’s.
