The nose was immediately rich and viscous, full of buttery oils and dried fruit. Minty and herbaceous overtones danced around sultanas, raisins and dried mango with caramelised suggestions of sweet Madeira wine. Assertive woody notes arrived with a thick layer of Danish oil as clean leather tangled with chocolate Bourbon biscuits and Swiss rolls. Rum flavours emerged with water, combining cinnamon, nutmeg and ginger with dried pineapple, mango and plenty of vanilla. A floral character wafted through an old dunnage warehouse where heavy oak casks concealed fresh ginger and wasabi spice. Hints of marzipan and dark chocolate flowed into liquorice and peppermint on a finish that merged lavender with throat lozenges.
