Tasting Notes
Here we go, the American disco act Lipps Inc. sung in 1979 “Won’t you take me to Funkytown?” Well, we went, and the nose offered lobster pots, emulsion paint, a hint of petrol and fishy oiliness combined with over-ripe kiwis. On the palate, ashy burning gorse entwined with muscle rub and engine oil. Water added aromas of smoked mango and papaya, lime-sugar dipping salt and smoked venison carpaccio, while to taste, unctuous fruits and massive medicinal smoke. This was a hostile takeover, bonkers but lovely stuff indeed. Following 11 years in an ex-bourbon barrel, we transferred this whisky into a second fill bourbon barrel that previously was used to mature peaty whisky 93.137.
