Tasting Notes
A wonderfully sweet, aromatic nose – mashed banana, moscatel wine, crème brûlée, café latte and butterscotch all came to mind. The palate had terrific, viscous textures, with ultra-sweet flavours of caramel, maple candies, walnut fudge and custard donuts, then a dry woody finish. The reduced nose was ‘a magical mystery tour’ and ‘sunshine in a glass’ – baklava, golden syrup on toast, sunflower seeds, Camp coffee, cinnamon and singed cork. The palate was rich and satisfying, with medjool dates, fig rolls, golden sultanas, treacle toffee and Madeira cake. After five years in ex-bourbon wood we moved this into a first-fill cosecha wine barrique.
