Tasting Notes
We were outside in sunshine (flower meadows, fresh laundry) when a tray of treats arrived (strawberry tarts, vanilla custard slice, lemon meringue pie). The palate was intense, mouth-coating and predominantly lemony (zest, pith, juice and zing); but also with brambles, ginger biscuits, sanded oak and Cornish rum and shrub. The reduced nose seemed even sweeter – toffee, fondant, jelly babies, white chocolate and honey, with hints of pepper, aniseed and toasted coconut. The palate (still juicy and lemony) now had American cream soda and honey; then a finish of candied ginger, willow twig, wood char and chilli – solid, succulent and suppable.
