Tasting Notes
“Incredibly inviting” and “so relaxing” were just two of the initial comments nosing neat. The aroma was of exotic wood, hazelnut liqueur, toffee bonbons, cherry fondant-filled chocolates and mango chutney. On the palate it was warm and sweet, leading to silly smiles on the faces of all the Panel members. Flavours were of candied walnuts, orange oil, Madeira cake and apricot jam – a smooth sipping treat indeed. A tiny drop of water and the scent developed into a heady mix of butterscotch instant whip and a bouquet of roses; truly mesmerising! The texture was silky smooth with hints of flavour well beyond its age, probably best described as rancio.
