Tasting Notes
The nose was a countryside ramble past hay bales, hedgerows and pine woods, with light floral touches. We were then rewarded with sweet treats including cinnamon buns, butter flapjacks, nougat and toffee. That sweetness was front and centre to the palate – honey on digestive biscuits, puff candy and strawberry jam – with a gentle, lip-smacking finish featuring hints of liquorice torpedo sweets. The reduced nose entertained us with lemon drizzle cake, amarena cherries and vanilla cornetto alla crema. Slightly spicier with water, the palate balanced churros, golden meringues and battenberg cake against warm, subtle suggestions of liquorice, black tea, ginger and oak.
