This town at the foot of the Kintyre peninsula was once Scotland’s “Whisky Capital”, but after a disastrous sequence of events in the early 20th century, only three distilleries remain. Campbeltown whisky is best known for its briny, oily characteristics, with its coastal location bringing a saltiness from the sea air.
