This sample boasted scents that excited us all; warm and welcoming, sweet and dark, cloves, cinnamon, roasted highly aromatic aromas with fruity notes like in a proper Barista-style espresso coffee. On the palate complex, full-bodied, sweet like a warm walnut and banana loaf with cinnamon walnut butter or that Scottish classic, Selkirk bannock with plenty of butter. Water added on the nose prune and Armagnac tart next to sweet chestnut puree and we were served Turkish coffee and Turkish delight on a traditional embossed metal tray. After fifteen years in an ex-bourbon hogshead, we transferred this whisky into a 1st fill Spanish oak Oloroso hogshead.
