As is often the case with this distillery, we were greeted by a mad bundle of aromas that included, but were not limited to: bandages, goat cheese curds, fermenting petrol, fat greasy smoke, charred game meat and children's art glue. Funny and very fun! With water we noted mercurochrome, seawater, gherkin juice and Caesar salad dressing with extra anchovy! The neat palate was packed full of pickled ginger, sheep dung topped with wasabi and pickled onions caramelising over hot coal embers. Out of nowhere, there hoved into view some boat varnish, a wax dipped pineapple and a chunk of strawberry shortbread. Water brought out fermenting Turkish delight, crunchy cornichons, pickled peat smoke, roast fish glazed in tar and partially forgotten Jambon beurre with smoked mustard!
