Tasting Notes
We loved the funk and frivolity of it; you could tell by our lip-smacking, thigh-slapping, eye-rolling expressions of pleasure. The nose had PVA glue, fresh-cut grass, poached pears, ripe bananas, oranges and caramelised brown sugar. The palate contained intense fruits, including pineapple upside-down cake, oodles of vanilla, super sweet golden syrup-laced custard and ‘chewing cloves at the dentists’. The reduced nose suggested toasted marshmallows, cherry pipe tobacco, window putty, potent liquorice and ‘limes on a compost heap outside a doctor’s surgery’. In reduction the musky, leathery, earthy palate gave us bountiful banoffee pie, molasses, mango and ‘crisp green apples bobbing in a swimming pool’.
