The rather curious nose had sticky toffee pudding and Demerara cinnamon toast, crumbled ginger snaps, hazelnut shells and something reminiscent of treasured old wooden cabinets. The palate was both sweet (Cadbury’s Whole Nut, bourbon biscuits, raisins) and spicy (honey-glazed padron peppers, chilli chocolate, moist gingerbread, Indian chai). That intriguing curiosity continued on the reduced nose, with barbershop aromas (Old Spice, Brylcreem) hints of lemon balm and basil and pancakes with blueberries and maple syrup. The palate now combined strawberry tarts, fresh donuts and salted caramel with a subtle finishing kick of pencil ends, crystallised ginger, chilli rice crackers and wasabi.
