Tasting Notes
An Arcadian array of aromas cheered us immediately – grapefruit, lemon and bergamot, bog myrtle, juniper and pine, rosemary, tarragon and Turkish delight. The palate was curiously complex – some orange and lemon tanginess, vetiver and caraway kummel, with the sweet, comforting warmth of clove rock and aniseed balls. In reduction, the nose developed peppermint, pink peppercorns and pastis, angelica root and ginger beer and full-on bathtime evocations of scented candles, bath cubes and soap. On the palate, the citrus was in the ascendant – lemon puffs, grapefruit segments, physalis, redcurrants and rosewater; then a finish of candle wax and coal tar soap.
