Tasting Notes
The nose suggested digging pink wafers into traditional, old style vanilla ice-cream and golden syrup drizzled over fresh baked cherry clafoutis. The palate kicked off with intense confectionery sweetness – foamy bananas and clotted cream fudge, then jam roly poly, fig rolls and cherries macerated in alcohol; the finish warmed our mouths with woody spice. Water certainly added complexity to the nose – we identified hazelnuts, halva, sweet putty and orange oil, fresh laundry, dried cranberries and melon balls. The palate now found toffee, pancakes, dates and orange car sweets and the finish made us think of pepper and geraniums.
