Tasting Notes

The wood influence was immediately apparent – polished oak, sawdust, dried flowers, basketry, cashews and macadamias. We also nosed vanilla fudge and ice cream, marzipan and jellied fruits. The neat palate had toffee, golden syrup and honey on oatcakes, green apple, pear and melon, some leafy, floral hints and a warm, lingering finish of aniseed and cinnamon chewing gum. The reduced nose took us to a bakery or a farmhouse kitchen – freshly baked apple pie, wholemeal bread, coconut biscuits and coffee. The palate now continued those leafy, fruity and floral harmonies, while perfumed joss stick smoke and bubble gum provided a curious coda.
