Tasting Notes
We struggled to light our beach bonfire, but eventually the smoke was massive, with medicinal elements (menthol, clove and carbolic), sizzling birch twigs and flaming honeysuckle. On the palate, that smoke was powerful but clean and sat well with the barley sweetness – we got humbugs, lemon tart, cream soda and nicotine tar mixed with honey. The reduced nose found toffee, fudge and bread and butter pudding, lapsang souchong tea and a Christmas tree in flames. The palate still had lovely sweetness wrapped in clean smoke – jelly babies, pan drops, tarry ropes, kipper, and singed rosemary; young, lively and far from bashful.
