Tasting Notes
The nose, lush and inviting, was a cascade of orchard fruits, especially pears (in syrup), green apples and apricot danish. We also identified honeydew melon, elderflower and jasmine. The palate started out mainly sweet and fruity – candied orange, lemon drizzle cake and pear frangipane tart – but eventually some spice arrived, with white pepper, nutmeg and oak warming and drying the finish. With water, the nose suggested golden syrup on digestives, warm shortbread and caramel apple granny cake. The palate had banana split dusted with cinnamon and sprinkled with brown sugar, chamomile tea and licking a Dutch clog that had trampled tulips.
