Tasting Notes
Tramping over heathery hillsides near the sea, we sheltered in an old school house where we had coffees, teas and cakes. The palate’s intense dark sweetness cheered us further (muscovado, treacle toffee, deep golden honey), then a slightly medicinal finish (Victory V’s, snuff). The reduced nose split the panel – one of us had cornflakes with banana, one had roast wild boar with red wine jus, while another enjoyed fruity sweets in a rally car. The palate now started sweet and juicy (lemon tart, barley sugars, sticky toffee pudding) before turning drier – orange zest, ginger cake, pain au chocolat and Chinese five spice.
