Tasting Notes
A robust, thick and richly peated aroma displayed both oiliness and waxiness – suggesting a highly textural dram ... which was all balanced by a big coastal character.. The palate delivered the suggestion of the nose with a hugely fat, peaty and dense mouthfeel and flavour. We found lashings of creamy smokiness, smoked and peppered mackerel, and natural tar resins galore: an immense distillate! Some water brought a deeper medicinal profile, with notes including medicated plasters and mercurochrome emerging. We found camphor, kippers slathered in lemon juice and pure brine, along with umami notes such as anchovy paste, before intimations of creosote and iodine drops.
