Have you ever sprinkled on your sweet porridge some cask char or put vanilla pods into a cigar tube – no, well you have not lived. Have you ever tried the agricultural rum from Haiti called Clairin made from sugar cane juice, sweet, earthy, fiery with mineral and medicinal notes but at the same time a svelte, silky palate with plenty of vanilla and spices like saffron and nutmeg? Water added minty oaky honey, toasted oats and dried coconut flakes next to a distant scent of lavender and violets, while the taste was that of citrus lemon flavoured mead.
