Tasting Notes
We were taken back in time as we opened the door to an old-fashioned ladies’ hair salon or a gentleman’s barber. We enjoyed lovely heady notes of French polish, wood varnish and beeswax as we stepped on to the high-gloss, laminated floor. While we waited, we were offered a choice of cherry tart, blackcurrant juice or a slice of Scottish chocolate tiffin. After reduction, we tucked into a hot fruit scone with a heavily stewed black tea on the nose, while the taste was of a blueberry muffin with a glass of blackcurrant cordial. In the finish, we had a sip of a smooth, sweet espresso martini. Following four years in an ex-bourbon hogshead, we transferred this whisky into a second fill oloroso hogshead.
