A conventional start of green meadows, lush woodland and gooseberry bushes merged into treacle, toasted oak and tinned fruits in syrup. On the palate however we found ourselves chasing a deceptive ninja armed with wasabi that danced from dry pear skins and tart crab apples to chocolate chip ice cream, coconut and caramel sauce, before disappearing back into minty bitter chocolate shadows. Adding water cut through ylang-ylang, lavender and apple blossom with a sharpened sword of strawberry sherbet while toasty cereals and nuts were shrouded by a cloud of icing sugar. Pickled ginger now faced off against marmalade prior to tannic wood and black tea arriving, then sweetening with fudge before becoming dry with pine resin and cereals.
