Tasting Notes
On the neat nose, the aroma was that of sweet pumpkin pie, toasted hazelnuts and a mug of turmeric tea made with oranges and ginger. To taste, a slice of spiced fruit loaf served with fig and apricot jam. After the addition of water, we mixed a Cosmopolitan cocktail, using vodka, Cointreau, cranberry juice and fresh lime juice garnished with a lime wheel. The palate gave us bramble jam sponge sandwiches, cream horns and strawberry tarts as we studied the Greek philosopher Diogenes – one of the founding fathers of cynicism. Following 11 years in an ex-bourbon hogshead, we transferred this whisky into a 1st fill shaved, toasted and re-charred PX sherry barrique.
