Tasting Notes
The ultrasweet nose enticed us with toffee sauce over ice cream, calvados-soaked sultanas, glaca cherries and dried pineapple, before we found additional hints of toasted pine nuts and petrichor. The palate brought smiles to our faces, thanks to the continued sweet theme which included chocolate-coated raisins, a penny bag of gummies, sour bites, jelly beans and sweet hard candy, plus rhubarb rock and damson jam on toast; the finish left us with cinnamon, nutmeg and dark chocolate. The reduced nose discovered flambaed peach, tinned mandarins in syrup, madeira cake and rolling tobacco. The taste, not altered greatly, developed into tinned peaches, brownies, cherry pie and fig yoghurt, finishing with roasted chestnuts, hazelnuts and oaked chardonnay.
