Tasting Notes
The nose was abundant with the soft fruits of fermenting apples, dried apricots and marmalade with sweet notes of caramel and honey. Vanilla and coconut then drew us towards elements of oak dusted with ground cinnamon. A heavy dose of spice greeted the palate which combined pink peppercorns with stem ginger and softened to ginger cake with crystalised orange peel and satsumas. With water earthier notes emerged of leather and sweet pipe tobacco served with a glass of apricot brandy. Coconut returned along with lemon drizzle cake before the palate turned fruity once more to merge raspberry jelly and blackcurrant jam with warm crumpets and dried pineapple.
