A wonderfully elegant and understated nose greeted the panel. Delicate medicines alongside a firm maltiness. Also light salinity, crisp cereals - a well-structured and taut profile. Additional notes included canvass, Battenberg cake and bouillon stock with a touch of waxiness. Reduction brought out scented waxes, pollens, bitter ales, hay loft and sunflower seeds. A little sootiness too. The neat palate was immediately robust and fulsome. Olive oil and hawthorn balanced by sweeter cereals and creamy coconut. Water brought rosewater, candied citrus peels, sandalwood, coconut, lemon barley water and grapefruit.
