A lovely green, fresh and floral aroma at first, like a machair springing into life after a long hard winter, before the scent of melted butter on warm croissants and spiced carrot cake filled the room. Great sweet arrival on the palate as a chilli spice of dark chocolate dipped grapefruit peels surprised us all. After dilution, a lot sweeter on the nose with tablet, marzipan, lemon drizzle cake and apple confit while on the palate - lemon cheesecake smothered in mascarpone as well as chocolate and orange soufflé with a Grand Marnier sauce. In the finish we found still a little spice mingling with the sweetness like a cherry granola bar dipped in black pepper.
