Tasting Notes
On the nose, a gentle wisp of chalky smoke rose above golden barley sugars and crusty sourdough. Then, peanut brittle and ripe bananas met glazed hot cross buns and poppy seeds, with bursts of lemon and pear. The palate offered flavours of sweet pipe tobacco and a wooden spice box filled with cardamom, cumin and turmeric. A thick, mouth-coating texture carried notes of juicy plums, melon and fudge-laced butter, before a warm finish of salty mace and fennel. With water, things relaxed into fresh hedgerows and butter biscuits drizzled with salted caramel, toasted nuts and honeyed cornflakes. A further sip revealed raspberries and lily pollen, boiled citrus sweets and a wave of wood spice and berries right to the end, for an easy-going, session dram.
