A very agreeable nose – banana bread, shortbread and buttery flapjacks, orange boxes, pine resin and fresh Charentais melon. Two impressions mingled on the palate – exotic fruit (pineapple, kumquat, nectarine, citrus) on the one hand and dry woody spice on the other (pepper, liquorice root, ash, balsam and neroli). With water, the nose gave hints in the direction of the eastern Mediterranean – Turkish coffee, almond oil, rice pudding with Greek honey and spices of the levant. The palate was warming and mouth-drying in a comforting way; ginger beer, flambéed banana with cinnamon, salted almonds, pretzels and orange marmalade, green tea and hay.
