Tasting Notes
This seemed older than its years – indeed we thought it seemed like a dram from a bygone age. The nose was a cornucopia of lush fruits – kiwi, peach, nectarine, strawberry, blackberry and cider from a straw press (like the one in Keats’ ode 'To Autumn'). The palate was silky smooth and creamy – mango, strawberry, sherbet and coconut sorbet, with complicating delights of tobacco, bitter chocolate, chalk and oak. The reduced nose found orange barley sugars, chocolate bourbon biscuits and vanilla. The palate, with its mouth-watering tropical fruits, watermelon boiled sweets, sweetened stewed rhubarb, chocolate, tobacco and oak was as mellow as mellifluous music unexpectedly heard on a magical island.
