Tasting Notes
The nose offered light chalky smoke and teasing suggestions of hessian, heather, tea tree, pine and sage, candied pineapple and perfumed cigarettes. The palate’s smoke was mellow and muted – we identified peaty grist porridge, coal scuttles and licking a stave, but it also had sweet fruity elements such as smoked pineapple, over-toasted marshmallows, loaf sugar and orange jelly. The reduced nose combined lemon tart and lime juice cordial sharpness with earthier notes of cigar smoke in an antique furniture shop. The palate suggested maple syrup and buttered gingerbread, smoke-infused peaches and lemon meringue pie. Mild-mannered, urbane and sophisticated.
