Tasting Notes

This smells like Santa’s house on Boxing Day – soot-covered clothing and boots on the floor while Santa relaxes in a Friars Balsam bath. Taste it though - and comfort and relaxation go out the window – this is severe – your tongue writhes like an eel on a dangling line. On the Richter scale of mouth tremors this is meteoric – intense smoke, tar, char, burnt sticks and embers, Pontefract cakes, chilli and Buckley’s cough syrup. The reduced nose evokes road menders’ shovels or steam trains struggling through snowdrifts. The palate becomes easier, sweeter and creamier even, but still youthful, muscular, masculine and gymnastic.
