Tasting Notes
This was mysterious and magical like the enigmatic and most ambiguous Sherry style called Palo Cortado, sitting somewhere in between an Amontillado and an Oloroso. Imagine varnished oak, leather, almonds, chocolate oranges, marzipan, after dinner mints and nougat while on the palate roasted hazelnuts, chocolate truffles and orange peel. Water added parkin, fig rolls and honey- sweetened chocolate glazed cookies from Nuremberg, Germany - the gingerbread capital of the world. The taste still complex, yet fine and elegant, silky and fruity like a pain au chocolate plus bread-and-butter pudding. Following ten years in an ex-bourbon hogshead, we transferred this whisky into a 1st fill Oloroso hogshead.
