Hallowe'en Mystery Malt
The estate was well and truly haunted. The spirit revealed itself in various aromas that just couldn’t be explained. The tour guide got wine gums and peach melba in the cellar while the owners caught whiffs of shaved oak, menthol cigarettes and leather in the vineyard. The visitors began to report their experiences: the smell of tawny port, barrel staves and dunnage in the greenhouse cafe, a waft of sweet black tea and molasses with winey notes of grappa in the museum. Was this the spirit of some long-gone vintner sending inspiration from the spirit world?
