Tasting Notes
A highly mentholic and rather funky nose the panel felt at first. We mentioned Victory Vs, Fisherman's Friends and various assorted medical vapour rubs, oils and throat sweets. Also some earthier tones that suggested damp undergrowth, sautéed mushrooms and cupboard baking spices. Reduction brought more of the rum influence to the fore, along with floral notes, petrol, cherry throat sweets and some bitter cocoa. The neat palate displayed a surprising level of sweetness with pear drops and then fruity red chilli heat. Apples baked with cinnamon, prunes and eucalyptus oils. With water we noted key lime pie, bananas baked with caramel, some mint julep cocktails and rum n raisin ice cream. Matured for 4 years in a bourbon barrel before transfer to a refill Panamanian rum barrel.
