A vibrant fruity tropical aroma of mango and guava was followed by bananas in the form of a sweet creamy banoffee pie and spicy honeycomb toffee. On the palate we had fried ricotta doughnut-like cookies called Zeppole, but this time not sweet but with a spicy preserved lemon mayo perfectly matched to beer or bubbles. After the addition of water, we hung laundry in the garden with beautiful flowering white daffodils everywhere while to taste, white grape juice, Tunnocks milk chocolate teacakes and white mice candy. In the finish we now enjoyed custard layered with ladyfinger biscuits, fresh mango and banana – nostalgia-filled trifle pudding.
