Tasting Notes
The nose was spicy and slightly industrial – strong menthol lozenges, pickled ginger, molasses and black bun (perhaps with a smear of strawberry jam) and "standing on the Forth Railway Bridge after a steam train had passed". The palate discovered spiced stewed plums and coltsfoot rock, tobacco strands, bubble gum and toasted coconut. The reduced nose reminded one Panellist of his granddad’s sideboard (pipe rack, pan drops, menthol snuff); others found PVC raincoats, new carpets and fresh laundry. The palate now suggested sweet earthy flavours of liquorice root and peppermint-flavoured boiled sweets (humbugs, Hawick balls); then dark chocolate, hazelnuts and nutmeg to finish.
