Tasting Notes

The nose took us to a kitchen on baking day – freshly baked fruit tarts, iced cakes and ginger biscuits – with black coffee and dried flowers in hessian strips. On the palate, this feast continued with brown sugar cinnamon toast, shortbread, pain au raisin and vanilla custard pies (the pastry now slightly burnt); the finish combined chilli chocolate and zingy lemon. With water, the nose seemed fresher – lemon meringue pie, laundry flapping in a rose garden and "eating doughnuts on a links golf course". The palate now served us ice cream cones, lemon sorbet and cupcakes in the garden.
