Tasting Notes
The nose evoked memories of gathering amber on the Baltic coast and peat smoke drifting through an Islay village, plus crispy bacon and lemon squeezed over grilled fish. The palate combined incredibly sweet smoke with intense flavours of French lemon tart, medjool dates, caramelised bananas and smoked ham; then salty rosemary, sweet chilli, tar and ash to finish. The reduced nose gave us fresh lavender, brine, pipe smoke and the sauna wood in Bowmore’s leisure centre, while the palate delighted us with barley sugar and toffee sweetness, gentle peat smoke floating on a sea breeze, and a black pepper finish.
