Lovely, subtle aromatics on the nose – pine forest petrichor, freshly made oak furniture, citric candles and bougainvillea overhanging a Madeira hotel swimming pool. The palate finds herbal and floral notes – borage flowers on ice-cream, Pimms and Polo Fruits, hints of cinnamon, ginger, chocolate and banana and a 1960’s wedding (cake, flowers, perfume, cigarette smoke). The reduced nose combines summer meadows, lemon curd and mandarin cheesecake with malted cereal and toasted oak. The palate is satisfying and sophisticated, perfumed and sweet – light citrus, raspberry jam and rhubarb rock with a bittersweet finish of lemon zest, rye bread and a kiss of cologne.
